The force was certainly strong with Deutsch LA when they produced this spot for Volkswagen’s 2012 Passat. This is the kind of great whit in advertising that helps me not feel dirty about working in this industry.

One Week In Havana

These images are from an impromptu week of shooting in Havana in mid January of 2011. Havana is a spectacular place to shoot. The people around town are exceptionally friendly. The city is exceptionally safe, the local joke is that there are a million people in Havana and a million police officers. Safety aside the whole place is a living time capsule, a fascinating, conflicting, difficult, fascinating, but more than anything; spectaularly unique….

DAMN is it ever fun to shoot there.

As is usually the case, I spend too much time browsing the work of awesome designers, both as praise and as a form of envy driven self flagellation. Today I pander to clever cuteness. Not the most breath-taking piece of design work that I’ve run across but damn is it ever cute, well executed and a great example of awesome anachronism that is relevant to my life.

Yup, 3.5″ floppy drive sticky notes… lady-less gentlemen, START YOUR NERDGASMS! For me the part that takes the execution from being cute to aweesome is the custom die cutting that at first made me take pause and not realize just how awesome the thing that I was looking at was.
